Attendance/Make-Up Days:
My child attends the 2 per week course. If my child misses a class (due to sickness, scheduling conflict, etc.), can I schedule a make-up day?
Yes! If you are unable to come to class on the day(s) marked on your entry form, please contact us and we will set you up with a make-up day.
For example, if your child is scheduled to come on Tuesdays and Fridays, but is unable to come one Friday, email us and your child can attend Tuesday and Thursday.
Note that make-up days can also be scheduled for two days in the same period (one period is Monday/Tuesday, the other is Thursday/Friday) or Wednesday, but the curriculum for these situations is not optimal.
For example, if your child is scheduled to come on Tuesdays and Fridays, but cannot come Friday and is also unavailable Thursday, your child may, in addition to Tuesday, come either Monday or Wednesday. Note that the curriculum for Monday and Tuesday will be identical, and that the Wednesday curriculum is built for our 1 per week course.
My child attends the 1 per week course. If my child misses a class (due to sickness, scheduling conflict, etc.), can I schedule a make-up day?
Yes! We understand that because the 1 per week course is limited to Wednesdays, missing one day means missing an entire week! If you miss a class, contact us and we will set you up with a make-up day for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.
Note that the curriculum for these make-up days is structured for our 2 per week course, so it will differ from what your child normally experiences on Wednesdays.
Pricing/Discounts:
Because of a school break, this month has fewer lessons than normal. Can I receive a discount?
Yes! Our monthly charge is based on four weeks of lessons per month. Because of breaks during January, March, July, and December, these months will be offered at a discounted rate.
Because school breaks sometimes change from year to year, these discounts are computed individually each year as the number of weeks class meets (rounded up) divided by 4.
For example, March normally meets four weeks. However, if spring break is one week, class will meet three weeks that month. Therefore, the monthly fee will be 75% (3/4) of the normal charge (¥11,250 for the 2 per week course, ¥5,625 for the 1 per week course). December also normally meets four weeks, but because of winter break, it may only meet two weeks. In this case, the monthly fee will be 50% (2/4) of the normal charge (¥7,500 for the 2 per week course, ¥3,750 for the 1 per week course).
I will miss a few weeks of class this month. Do I have to pay the full monthly price?
We prefer to maintain a regular payment schedule for accounting purposes, but please contact us in special cases and we may be able to offer an exception.
This month has 5 weeks instead of the usual 4. Does this affect my payment?
In most months, no! In months with five weeks instead of four, we offer the fifth week as a special free service to our customers.
How do special lesson discounts and pricing work?

I already have a child in Solid Foundation, but I would like to enroll another. Do I receive a sibling discount?
Yes! For customers with children enrolled in Solid Foundation’s elementary or kindergarten classes, each child enrolled after receive a 20% sibling discount on both the entrance fee and the monthly fee every month.
A friend referred me to Solid Foundation. Do I receive a discount?

Special Lessons:
How much do special lessons cost?
Solid Foundation’s special lessons cost ¥1,000 per lesson (one ticket). You can also purchase 11 of these entry tickets at a discount of ¥10,000. These tickets can be used by anyone.
How can these tickets be purchased?
Ask one of our staff or contact us via email and we would be happy to mail or give you these tickets in person.
Who can attend Solid Foundation special lessons?
Anyone! You do not need to be a current Solid Foundation customer to attend its special lessons.
I attended one of Solid Foundation’s special lessons and I decided to join the regular English class. Can I get some sort of discount!
Yes! Students who join Solid Foundation after attending a special lesson receive a ¥1,000 discount from the entrance fee!
Misc:
My student needs to be picked up from the Panda room. Do I need to contact Solid Foundation about this?
Generally, no. The Solid Foundation sign-up form indicates whether your child needs to be picked up from Panda on a regular basis, and so our student database will display that information for our teachers. However, in the case that your situation is different from what is indicated on your form, please contact us.
For example, if your student is normally picked up from Panda, but will be absent one day, or if your student normally does not attend Panda but will need to be picked up one day, please email us either the day before or the morning of the day that your schedule has changed.
